How do you remove weeds from my drive or patio?

I have developed effective methods to remove weeds

from block paved areas as well as other outdoor floor

surfaces. With the use of professional cleaning equipment,

weeds are removed to leave a like new finish in many

cases. An example of this is pictured below. For more

information on moss removal click here. For more

information on black lichens click here.

Do you ever use chemicals to kill weeds?

As a matter of fact, 95% of the jobs I do are 100% chemical

free. Weedkiller should only be used as an absolute last

resort, once other methods have been exhausted.

A zero chemical option is always the first port of call

When would you consider using weedkiller?

As previously stated, the greater majority of the jobs I

have done, including those featured on this website

have been achieved using zero chemicals. Weedkiller

is not required to remove weeds from your property,

but it is under certain circumstances the only effective

method of eliminating weeds on a permanent basis.

Many weeds, such as the notorious dandelion, will

repeatedly grow back unless their root system is

removed. If that root is trapped between a tiny crack

between two paving bricks or slabs, the root will be

impossible to remove manually, so will inevitably

grow back within a short time, unless “killed off.”

Weed control in areas with gravel or loose stone can

also prove problematic using standard weeding

methods and is another example of when you may

benefit from a professional weedkilling service.

The use of professional cleaning equipment often plays

a key role in effective weed removal

When roots are deep in inaccessible cracks a suitable

herbicide is the only means of complete elimination

Could weedkiller cause problems elsewhere on my

property?

The weedkiller products I use are designed to biodegrade

when they come into contact with soil. I hold a PA1/PA6

qualification in the safe use of pesticides, so will take care

to follow all industry best practice, including minimizing

overspray and using correct dilution rates, as well as

avoiding contamination of watercourse or drainage

systems. I will advise you as to any hazards that may be

present during the process. A professional should know

how to use pesticides and biocides in a safe and effective

manner. Just because someone offers to apply weedkiller

for a price, does not automatically mean they are

competent to do so, especially if they have not completed a

recognized qualification.

Do you use Roundup?

Round up is one trademark of weedkiller. Though the brand

has received negative media attention in recent years, it

uses the same base chemical as a host of other brands of

weedkiller. This is regarded as a “clean label” pesticide. The

products I use (only where agreed necessary as an additional service) are higher strength, for professional use only. It is the

safe use of such chemicals and competence in applying them in an efficient and effective manner, that sets apart the

qualified professional from the average end user.
